19/07/2010

A pair comprising experienced golfer Adam Sailesi and up-and-coming Moss Limuwa became the toast of the afternoon at Lilongwe Golf dub (LGC), when they won this year's NICO Life Golf tournament played on stable-ford multiplier format. The pair from Lilongwe won the tournament after scoring 77 points in a field of 112 golfers, which was one of the biggest turn-ups at the LGC this year. "We thank everyone—the s onsors, the golf committee and fellow goffers for the wonderful tournament and the excellent prizes. For me, this is one of the few major tournaments I have won so far but my friend (Sailesi) has won quite a number of major competitions. "I was motivated playing with somebody like him," said Limuwa after getting the winers prize- a trophy and golf bag, which were presented to each of the winners, On second place was a pair comprising Mphatso Chadzala and Master Mbale, who counted out third placed Anwar Panjwani and Dilly Goutam on 75 points.

The two received 54 cm TV screens each with the third-placed pair walking away with 17 TV screens each. A family couple Peter and Grace Fiwa got DVD players each after finishing fourth with 74 points with former LGC captain Justin Mkandawire and current competition secretary Medson Roka getting similar prizes for finishing fifth. Victor Kachepatsonga and Moses Nthakomwa got a radio clock each for the longest drive and nearest to the pin respectively. Speaking during the presentation ceremony, LGC captain Ben Wandawanda hailed NICO Life for sponsoring another successful tournament. "For us to have 112 golfers in this kind of format it means we overloaded he course. But this shows the value golfers place on insurance and we are very pleased with the long-time partnership that has been existing between our club and NICO Life," said Wandawanda.

NICO Life Chief Executive Officer Oscar Mpando described the tournament as a big success and assured the golfers that his company would continue with the sponsorship as long as there was support from the golfers. Marketing manager for NICO Life Policy, Savings Protection Policy and Insurance Moffat Katundulu appealed to the golfers to takje advantage of the company's new products of Tikondwe Harvest Pension Policy, which he said were already receiving overwhelming support from the general public.
