KATO SISTERS CROWNED NICO LIFE NETBALL CHAMPIONS

A pool of baskets courtesy of shooter Sarah Nkhata land goal-attacker Tapiwa Chikowoka, gave Mzuzu-based Kato Sisters netball team a 74-23 victory over Chitipa Queens to be crowned new champions of the K2.5 million Northern Region NICO Life Trophy after a thrilling match played at Mzuzu's Rosedale Court on Saturday. Nkhata and Chikowoka inspired by centre Stella Kamanga who was in Cook Islands with the Under-21 national netball team netted the baskets in all the four quarters to down their opponents, who were last year's runners-up. "I am delighted that I formed the team last year and today we are crowned champions," said Kato coach Jane Kachali, vowing to defend the trophy for years to come.

NICO Life Insurance Limited has increased the Northern Region Netball League (NRNL) sponsorship from K1.7 million to K2.5 million. The firm's marketing manager Moffart Katundulu said this was part of their social obligation. "We want to make the league exciting to the participants (teams). NICO LIFE ARMS DEFENCE FORCE
NICO Life Insurance has raised its sponsorship for the Malawi Defence Force's (MDF) annual Inter-Unit Sports Festival from K2 million to K3 million this year. NICO Life Chief Executive Officer Chris Kapanga announced the news at the cheque presentation ceremony in Blantyre on June 4.The development reaffirms the company's commitment towards supporting the festival. Last year it also increased the funding from K1 million to K2 million.

NICO Life Insurance Company recently conducted a two-day training seminar for its life sales agents at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi under the theme Taking Business to Greater Heights' where a professional facilitator was hired to conduct the proceedings. It was a wonderful weekend for golfers at Lilongwe Golf Club when NICO Life Insurance organised a tournament that saw Texon Banda and Mike Lwanda emerging winners. Their runners-up in this stableford multiplier were Clement Chilingulo and Thakor Mahindra while J. Lim and O.H. Chou came third.

NICO LIFE SPLASHES NETBALL PRIZES

Chauka Sisters netball team, on June 10, 2008 went away with K30,000 after emerging first in the Mzuzu District NICO Life Insurance trophy. Chauka, who are also Northern Region netball defending champions amassed 15 points in all five games played. Rivals, Kato and Moyale Sisters came second and third after netting 12 and 9 points, respectively to earn themselves cash prizes of K20,000 and K15,000, respectively.
